Just a Sweet Treat
This is a year of finding myself in a strange spot, so many things I routinely did during holidays and special occasions is no longer required. There’s a bit of relief that comes with that, as well as some sadness; this is my first year without a romantic valentine (because when you have kids, they are always your valentine.) As much as I’m trying to keep my private life just that, it’s hard not to share the details that weigh on me. A day all about with love for a newly single lady can be a tough one, but in the grand scheme of things it is no matter.
Still, I want to have someone to shower with love and admiration. Make the special card with an inside joke, bake their favorite cookies, cook an extra nice dinner, all those typical sweet things you do for the person you care about. But this year, I get to do them all for myself! How awesome is that? Did you know that you can love yourself like someone else would, and that it’s probably one of the best things you can practice. And it really is a practice, something to get used to and comfortable with. Being able to care for and love yourself is terribly important, no matter if you have a partner or not.
While I had the ambitious goal of running this website for my gift guides and crafting tutorials, it’s also a bit of a way to talk to you the way I speak to myself. So if this doesn’t connect with you, I hope it at least gives you a little comfort or recognition. Don’t let one silly day ruin yourself for weeks, you are the best valentine you could have.
