Endless Time

We can all agree that January was the longest month ever, right? And now we’re already rocketing through February despite just starting. It really goes to show that time is all over the place, there is no way to keep track of it anymore. Instead, I think we should mark time with events and moments from our lives. Two weeks ago was when I had that conversation that made me smile so much, my cheeks hurt. That slow, sleepy day was when the snow drifted down and started to stick, leaving just enough for some snowballs and a tiny snow pal. It’s almost time to get that big, warm hug and enjoy a delicious dinner date.

Just as people say you’re only as old as you feel, our days are only as good as we remember them. Whether that’s thinking of how perfectly you made your cup of coffee in the morning, or how you dropped your keys in a puddle, what you focus on and recall shapes your memory and mood. Even when it feels like you did nothing all day and you wish you had done more, you still did enough for yourself. You stayed safe, fed your body, did something you enjoy, and that’s still remarkable.

At this point, when so many things in the outside world are working against us, you are all you have to keep going. Be thoughtful and careful with yourself, and try to do the same for others. The winter isn’t over yet, but spring will be here before you know it. Enjoy all the endless moments you can.
