Spare Some Change

We can all agree that the start of this year has been extremely… interesting. The one big thing I’ve been constantly thinking about has been the general idea of change. Some changes in our life are totally out of our hands, which means we must make changes to accommodate those situations. Other changes are entirely up to us, like drinking more water or cleaning house more often. Either way, we end up making changes much more frequently than we realize. (Now I’m going to get personal.)

Most of the last year was a series of changes for me that I chose, and practically all of them for the better. Doing more creative projects for myself, staying consistent with my Etsy shop, forgoing embarrassment to promote said projects and shop, it all has a positive production. They are also all baby steps towards the new goals I’ve set for myself this year (which I won’t bore you with) and things I feel confident in completing. Yes, I know, people say that sort of thing all the time with their new years resolutions and end up tapping out after a couple of months. But that’s just another change to make: giving up, or continuing on.

While the state of the world around us will always be out of our control, it’s important to focus on what is. Whether it’s bettering your body or mind, making your space feel comfortable and convenient for your needs, or creating something just for the fun of it, do what you need. There are far worse things to do for yourself than whatever brings you joy.
