No Bad Time for Love
Picture it: you’re 8 years old, and it’s almost Valentine’s Day. You have a crush on someone in your class, and you’ve been making a special card just for them. Everyone else gets a pre-made card you bought at the store, but this person gets something specifically crafted by you, and it has tons of details that let them know you care. Their favorite colors, an animal they love, maybe an inside joke (if you’ve ever talked to them that is), you want to make sure they know you’ve noticed them and everything they like. Maybe you can become one of the things they like too!
All those excited and nervous feelings never really go away when we get older, and those kinds of creative impulses shouldn’t either. Being able to express your interest in someone doesn’t have to be done in a careful and calculated way, it can be whatever way shows your feelings. So why shouldn’t it be fun? Get that silly stuffed toy, make a giant cookie cake, write a dozen love letters, just be as playful as your love feels!
Soon I’ll have some ideas to share on how to make some simple crafts for the ones you care about. Everything is easy enough for a beginner or kids, and wraps up in an afternoon. What was your favorite part of valentines as a kid?
